this place is awesome! i had been having an issue with my chain falling off of my bike each time i rode. i went to three different bike shops, each told me nothing was wrong with it, and sent me on my way - only for it to fall off again. durham cycles kept my bike and test drove it themselves to finally understand the problem & create a great & creative solution. i so appreciate the time and care they took to help me!!

Great gears! My e-bike had a flat and that’s the wheel I don’t muck with and leave it to professionals. They are experts! Same day fix and that has never happened for my bike needs at other shops since pre-COVID days. And this was a Sunday before their closing while they serviced another e-bike and several standard bike customers. So a couple years ago I was not living in Durham but stopped by Durham Cycles when visiting. At that time I overheard one of the staff explaining to a customer that they don't do a "one size fits all" tune-up and only charge for the work that needs to be done. Since that time, I've moved back to Durham and made Durham Cycles my go-to LBS. What they told that customer has proven to be true. They never try to "upsell" anything. Best. Bike shop. Ever. Went in to look at mountain bikes with an idea of what I wanted. Dave spent a ton of time with me researching comparable bikes in my price range. He also took the time to fit me on exactly the right size. Steve and Leo spent time assisting us as well. They were all so helpful - and fun to chat up about biking! Can’t recommend Durham Cycles enough. Buy local!

I cannot recommend this place enough. I'm truly impressed with the staff's knowledge and skills in what they do.
